The Planned Animal Lovers Community for Disabled/Elderly Animal 'Owners'

First, please see my blog at OFA: http://my.barackobama.com/page/community/blog/savingtails My plan is blogged in several places; broadband connection is essential for publicity and for the ongoing development of the PAL Plan.. The PAL Plan, while not thoroughly defined on the blog, would of course include broadband access for a number of purposes, including but not limited to, access to grant sources, community access ...more »

Promote Awareness of Universal Broadband Opportunities in Climate Change Mitigation & Adaptation

The global transition to a networked knowledge-based universe offers profound opportunities to address the crisis of dangerous climate change. The underlying economic basis for these opportunities rests on the fact that information has zero mass, zero physical size and virtually zero travel time, with the net effect of a marginal cost that is effectively zero. Furthermore, to the extent that information/knowledge is the ...more »

Campaign: Worker Training

Job readiness

Interactive broadband could be used to help unemployed or underemployed individuals prepare for their job search through on line skills assessments, resume writing instruction and interviewing skills hints as well as support blogs. This would be particularly helpful to the newly unemployed, especially workers who have not recently experienced the job search process. People could access the state or county sites from ...more »

Openness and Security

Often computer security and access are at odds. While I want greater access and transparency in all levels of government and governmental functions, utilities, roads/highway, medical records, this greater access increases the potential for hacking and abuse. Homeland security should consider an utterly independent and separate network for critical and national security functions and highly sensitive & private information. ...more »

Jump Start the Electric Car Industry

We can start to convert, ICE, Internal Combustion engines to Fully Electric propulsion right now and we MUST to save the planet. The best way to help the Electric Car Industry right now is to force every company with more than 1,000 employees to purchase TWO Electric Cars and install Battery Recharging Systems in their parking lots for the TWO CARS. If we do this, we would force investment money into the Electric Car ...more »

JOBS for Americans that were previously OUTSOURCED

I have a company that would like to bring all of the jobs that were outsourced to other countries. You know who they are and give them to Americans who want a job and need a job. Here's how my HIRE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN can work to save and/or create 10 to 15 Million Jobs in just a few months, not years. All major companies who have an online presence need CUSTOMER SERVICE that is just as if you were in a REAL STORE. ...more »

Campaign: Civic Participation

Require 1) Broadband in School Auditoriums, and 2) Linkages Between Broadband and PEG systems

My county (Anne Arundel County, MD) has a 20 gbps I-NET connecting its schools, libraries, and other public buildings. Its PEG/I-NET capital budget is over $16 million for the duration of its current cable franchise contract. Yet the civic uses of this network are, to put it mildly, negligible. Consider the public schools. There are some 120 public K12 school buildings throughout the County. Almost all are connected ...more »

Fix My Street--online communication between individuals and government

I would love to have a United States version of the UK's "fixmystreet" website where anyone could quickly pinpoint street problems in their local community (i.e. pot holes, broken street lights, debris in the road/bicycle lanes, abandoned vehicles, etc.). While one can always contact their local officials directly, such a website would streamline the process of communication between individuals and their government. ...more »

Campaign: Other National Purposes

End the Conflict of interest

I feel the only way we are going to have a rapidly growing and expanding internet, is if we split up any cable laying companies from any kind of service or information providers. I think that a network that goes over public right of ways should be owned by the public, and not by a tv and phone monopoly. The conflict is that a phone or tv company will want to utilize the lion's share of network bandwidth to sell its ...more »
